The morning doesn't have to begin with a jolt. So much of how we feel by noon is decided in the first quiet ten minutes — before the phone, before the list, before the world leans in. A slow morning isn't a luxury reserved for unhurried lives. It's a posture you can practise in the smallest of gaps.
Wake the body before the mind
Resist the reach for the screen. Let your first movement be a long, unhurried stretch — arms overhead, a gentle twist, a roll of the shoulders. You're telling your nervous system that today can be met, not endured.
- ✦Three slow breaths before your feet touch the floor.
- ✦A glass of water, sipped, not gulped.
- ✦Light — open a curtain, step outside, or simply face a window.
How you greet the morning is a quiet rehearsal for how you'll greet everything else.
— A note from the studio
Begin with one of these tomorrow. Not all of them — one. The slow morning is built from small, repeatable kindnesses, and it keeps better when it's easy.
